Jeanette vasquezes sister etc.) and were replaced by... mercenaries .... and the marines were also long disbanded , to be replaced by stupid soldiers who even with 3000+ soldiers couldn't kill a few young drones, my rant is done... thank you

Re: End Of Line.

Thanks.
Be warned: The 'Shape of Things to Come' segment at the end of the last episode will cause you to regress through the steps all over again. ;)

Re: End Of Line.

No upcoming Star Wars TV show (although Clone Wars is great) or movies other than *another* redux, this time in 3D. No Star Trek on TV, or in the works. All iterations of Stargate have been shelved indefinitely. The franchises are waning.
It is not a good time for science fiction at all, and it will take a while to recover. More likely it'll require some sort of new form, a new medium for intellectual programming.
*sigh* How long until holobands?

Re: End Of Line.

Thanks for taking me through all them steps. There are many great eps (and some not so great) but for me it's 100 % the season 2 episode where 'someone' dances with Maddy in the living room. Wink. That's where everything that's special about Twin Peaks, the mystery, the emotions, the horror - it all culminates in one haunting and unforgettable TV triumph.

Re: End Of Line.

+1.
Well put. I remember being taken aback when news first broke about Caprica. When my fanboy squees after reading the words 'BSG spin-off' finally receded, I finished reading the headline. The phrase 'family drama' seemed to throw me off a little.
Ultimately, one of the best crews in TV made that shit WORK. Style, concept, and intrigue in the setting I didn't know I wanted.
Also, V-world is frakking amazing. ;)
Re: End Of Line.

Nice blog. At the risk of feeding the troll, BSG was by far and away the most original and impressive sci-fi invention of 'a world' I have ever seen on television. Caprica was a complex, refreshingly mature, richly detailed and thoughtful elaboration of that world. Moreover, it was its own world too, perhaps too different to the one that spawned it for those who wanted more of the same. I for one will miss going there and buying the ice cream, it tastes nothing like shit.

Re: End Of Line.

I like ice cream. As for Star Trek, I was thinking of Voyager, Enterprise, movies like Nemesis and the recent Abrams reboot. DS9 was genius by comparison, though disappointing compared to TNG or TOS. I'm glad I have higher standards than you, even though it means I'm disappointed more often. Producers love people like you, who will swallow whatever shit they give you and call it icecream.

Re: End Of Line.

It's a shame you were only looking for BSG season zero. He is just a petty thug who becomes a sand monster, I am so sick of these snobby spiderman fans who act like everything from the sixties was fucking gold. Venom is as complex a character as doc ock if not more so in the comics doc ock is just a scientist who goes mad after an accident venom there is at least his desire to protect innocent people coupled with his hatred of spiderman that make him a complex character. You clearly have never read venom comics as you would know he was not just a snarling monster that was never the point of him. The only thing wrong with Venom was Brocks reason for hating spiderman thats it nothing else and really if raimi was such a good director he would have been able to change that. Instead he gave him an even less interesting reason for hating spidey and made him into nothing but a snarling monster this great director you go on about turned a character who in the comic books though wanting to kill spidey never hurt aunt may or mary jane because he could never bring himself to hurt an innocent into a character who literally say's "I like being bad it makes me happy" As for the first two films being great to be honest I thought they were lame. Filled with chessy garbage "aunt may is that an angel" Spidey 2 was even worse. I really don't know why everyone raves about doc ock in that film, he was boring. Talk about lack of humanity being a good guy who goes bad dosen't make you a really complex human character in fact its relatively simple he one minute was a nice guy then opps something goes wrong with his tenticles and the tenticles control him and make him into a supervillain. lazy boring actually less than other versions of doc ock like the 90's cartoons where we see him descend into madness on his own, without the tenticles. The rest of pidey 2 was boring just crap about mary jane being an actress I much preffered Tim Burtons Batman and Batman Returns. Again the Penquin in that film was complex but he wasn't a nice guy at all. I mean seriously you like the dark knight and you go on about Venom being an uncomplex character what would you call the joker in the dark knight who's origin is not even explained and just enjoys killing people. All of these spidey fans who look down on later spidey comics are just snobs they have decided as ridiculous as alot of 60's spiderman villains are just to think of them as these wonderful complex characters compared to the rest. I mean really this marvellous version of the joker in the dark knight I fail to see how he is any different from Carnage both are anarchists who want to kill people to prove that society should have no laws, I might add Carnage did that first though obviously The Joker as a charcter was first but in the comic books the joker never killed because he was an agent of chaos he just did it for his own reasons like in his first appearance he did to prove he was the greatest crook in town. Yet everyone loves the Joker in the Dark Knight and think of Carnage as the worst villain ever and as for these assholes who go on about the symbiote as being too ridiculous please a guy made of sand is more ridiculous. Seriously stop treating people who like venom and carnage as morons. I actually preffered Spidey 3 to the first two not because of venom but because I felt it did have a good story was more enjoyable and less up its on arse than the previous two and personally i Think people just decided to say it was bad because it was the third film. I mean really aren't you tired of just saying the same obvious crap all the time its always "first one great second one best third one bad" before its even out. Same with the X men film series X men three was a good film but all the critics just decided to hate it because it was the third one same with Blade and so many other franchises. Its just as well the audience at least dosen't always follow these stupid patterns.

Re: #BSG: WTF Happened to Starbuck?

hi, let out an audible WTF when that happened. ... golden fucking opportunity to put Apollo!

Re: #Lost: The Ajira 6

Is this really a happy ending for the Ajira 6? What's the likelihood that Lapidus's slapdash repairs actually worked? Is duct tape actually that effective?
Depending on your stance on the finale there's a time gap between the "ending" and the sideways universe. It's a possibility that the Ajira flight subsequently crashed into the ocean or perhaps onto another island.
I think the main reason for the exodus of the Ajira 6 is that they serve no purpose on the next chapter of the island.
Richard's story is over. He was blessed with immortality by Jacob on the island and with the return of his mortality he no longer had a tie to the island nor a function on it.
Sawyer achieved his goal of revenge while on the island, once again depending on your personal views of the series. He also found true love and he grew as a character. He never embraced the island only worked various cons while there. The island no longer has a place for him after the "reset".
Claire ultimately became a follower of the Man in Black. With the shuffle of character roles at the "end" Claire no longer held any allegiances and was therefore able to leave. It would be slightly confusing if more than one of the Shepherd family were left behind.
Miles can be considered the last true member of the Dharma initiative as he was a descendant of Pierre Chang. The series progressed well beyond Dharma's involvement. Miles departure symbolizes the end of this particular aspect of the island.
Arguably Frank Lapidus is the best pilot in history. He managed to drop off Naomi and Daniel via helicopter. He piloted an overburdened and fuel-deprived helicopter to an explosive-laden freighter. He crash-landed a helicopter into the ocean. He crash-landed a plane onto an island and then later took off from the island in the same plane! Makes no sense for him to be stuck somewhere when he can continue making these amazing feats.
And then there's Kate...Kate is Jack's perfect woman. This is a distraction that Jack can't have in his new role, whatever you believe that to be. Jack has always accepted his abilities and what they can do for others but it took him a long journey to accept that he himself had value and was destined for bigger things. Sadly for Kate and fans of romance Jack's journey is a solo journey at this point.

Or perhaps they just ran out of time despite the 2 1/2 hour finale. Too much of a downer to kill everyone.

Re: A Brief History of Comics – Bronze Age and Dark Age

The Sandman issue #19 is a fantastic piece of story telling.

Re: Things to Watch After Lost

A Perfect Getaway supposedly takes place in Hawaii, but it was actually filmed in Puerto Rico. Zombieland falls into the category of "movies with no point". A continuous trend in Hollywood that is unfortunately becoming the norm. What was this movie trying to say?
It's not about the zombie apocalypse, it's about the people. Oh, you mean the sometimes funny but mostly boring characters. Good choice to make the movie about them (sarcasm). This ain't Shaun of the Dead.
It's a re-imagining of the zombie lore. Um, no, not at all. One or two lines of dialogue max. This is simply a zombie apocalypse story. More post-apocalyptic actually as the non-specific calamity happened some time ago and there seems to be no urgency of action by any of the un-undead.
It's just a fun gore-fest. Fail. Although there are some good effects Zombieland is by no measure pushing the envelope. I've seen better zombie effects on awards shows (Scream Awards, but still valid). There's very few lingering shots on the zombies. A brief set up for a joke then a decapitation and/or sight gag. No memorable gore scenes.
It's 88 minutes long with zombies in it. That much is true.
Zombies on the screen puts zombies in the seats. It's not cool to exploit the zombie trend. Although I and many others are compelled to see the new zombie flick it would be nice to see either a progression of the lore or a new addition to cannon to revel in.
P.S. Bill Murray rules.

Re: Who’s Who of Comics on Twitter

Stan Lee - @smilinstanlee - Cannot think of anything off hand. :)
